Our Rooms

Dalkeith has a variety of different rooms to cope with a variety of needs.

We believe that every resident’s room is their own, and as such should be decorated with any pictures, photos and mementoes as they wish.

For our residents with dementia we believe this to be vitally important.

Activities

We believe that activities at Dalkeith are essential and should cater for all of our residents’ tastes and interests.

Residents who prefer their own company can receive on-on-one activities in their own room (poetry reading for example) or for the more gregarious personalities group activities are also provided.

We believe that food and meal times are should be a highlight of the day. All of the food is prepared by ourselves and served where and when the residents want. That all-important cup of tea is available at any time, as are our healthy snacks or naughty cakes!

Our aim is to offer a home from home environment where residents are free to live as they wish.

We have a high degree of expertise in dementia care and have both Dementia Link and Dementia Lead trained staff.

Our recent Care Quality Commission inspection rated all aspects of care at Dalkeith as ‘good’

Costs

For privately-funded residents we have a variety of rooms available which we believe are priced extremely competitively.

A private room will cost between £900 and £1200 per week.

Visiting

We have no specific visiting hours and actively encourage families and friends to pop in and share a cup of tea with us.

All we ask is that they respect that this is our residents’ home.

Chiropody

All of our residents benefit from the visits of our chiropodist, either at her monthly visit or at an individual appointment.

Hairdressing

Thursday mornings are a highlight for our ladies as Paula visits and cuts, perms and sets her way through the morning. Our gentlemen aren’t forgotten either as they can take the opportunity to have a trim. Paula is also available throughout the week for further appointments.

Laundry

We believe an efficient laundry service is an essential element of our service. We have invested in a commercial Miele washing machine which means that all of our laundry is both clean and safe.
